What the F*ck Happened to My Body After Pregnancy

LISTEN TO THE FULL EPISODE:

Twenty one babies are born every minute, which means with every minute numerous women’s bodies are going through the trauma of childbirth, but our culture doesn’t prioritize healing in the same way we do all other significant body traumas. Post birth rehab, strengthening and healing are topics that are often not spoken about or even acknowledged as part of the birthing process until after the baby is in the world and their mother is attempting to “do it all.” In many cultures, the entire community comes together to honor, celebrate and care for the person that birthed the new life into this world, but in America we tend to lose that part of the narrative, which in turn means we forget to prioritize the support that is needed.

Today’s guest, Natalie Garay, specializes in physical and emotional rehabilitation after birth or a c-section surgery and she joins for this episode to shine a light on the often unspoken but vitally important conversation about how to create a society that prioritizes post birth healing, physically, mentally, emotionally and psychologically. If you have been pregnant, are pregnant, are planning to be pregnant or know someone who has experienced any of these stages of pregnancy, this episode is an important education and conversation starter to normalize a new generation centered around honoring, supporting and healing women and their postpartum bodies. We talk about pelvic floor rehab, c-section surgery, urinary incontinence, healthcare advocacy and so much more!
