Modern interviewing is like dating, it’s got to be reciprocal

LISTEN TO THE FULL EPISODE:

Old school job searching is out, it’s time for a reframe. If you left your job, are considering leaving your job or looking to re-enter the workforce, the interview process can feel daunting.

In this episode, Nikki talks about:

  • The workplace trends in play with the increase in remote work and the prioritization of diversity, equity and inclusion -- especially in the hiring and HR industry

  • The common outdated messages that are still being peddled that keep candidates feeling small

  • How Millennials occupying the majority of the workforce is changing the values and approach to job searching and embracing an authentic career path

With the Great Resignation comes the interview process! The power dynamics in the workplace are changing. They’ve been changing for a while, but with companies focused on re-entry and individuals deciding “should I stay or should I go?” these shifts are coming to the forefront.

Traditionally the power in the interview process has been in the hands of the hiring manager and their company. And as a result, candidates have twisted themselves in knots and abandoned parts of who they are to fit the needs of the employer above all else.

With an increasingly diverse, gender balanced, Millennial and Gen Z workforce, the shift to more modern ways of valuing work, time and loyalty are changing the game — giving candidates more equal footing and making inclusive leadership an imperative.
